Resident Therapist
Nicole Thompson
Your story, pain, and struggles matter, and I am here to help you discover and examine some patterns and challenges that cause you to behave and respond in ways you do that may be unhealthy. Often, we need someone to join us to ask the right questions that help facilitate that discovery and learning process. When we understand our story, it is only then that we can start learning skills that will help us to get unstuck, maintain, and sustain change. My approach is collaborative as I partner with my clients to help them find the answers within themselves.
I am passionate about partnering with individuals, including teenagers, couples, and families. I enjoy seeing couples establish and enrich their relationships as they learn about their attachment styles and family-of-origin issues that have impacted them. My holistic approach explores all that affects the mind, body, and spirit. I serve those who need help learning how to manage life transitions, depression, anxiety, loss, spiritual issues, and identity, and those who have suffered some trauma, including domestic violence and betrayal trauma. My approach is client-centered, respectful, genuine, and empathic, firmly believing their lives and relationships can improve. For those who want to incorporate their faith in their healing journey, I welcome you to include this as much as possible.
I hold a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Capella University and marriage and family therapy from Capella and Houston Christian University, respectively. I am a Prepare/Enrich and Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts (SYMBIS) facilitator which I use in my work with couples preparing for marriage. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy Associate under the supervision of Amy Fuller PhD, LMFT, LPC.
Spending time with my spouse and three adult children, traveling, dining at Houston’s wide range of restaurants, and attending Symphonic performances a few times yearly are events I look forward to and make time for. I also love a good movie and novel when I get the time to delve in. As an avid world traveler, I enjoy working with clients from different cultural and religious backgrounds, as I did when I lived for many years in Southeast Asia.
I look forward to partnering with you on your road to healing.
