Jayda Washington

Welcome, I’m Jayda!

It seems that you have found yourself at a crossroads, a crisis, or a confusing point in your life, and you have decided enough is enough. You can no longer continue to function this way and that is when the shift begins. Pain, grief, heartache, sudden life changes, chronic relationship issues, and family conflict are all inevitable challenges of life. We are all susceptible to life’s most difficult moments. It is a part of the human experience.

At one point or another, we all will find ourselves asking, “How did I get here?” Wherever you find yourself today, do not fret. You were built to work through it, and you’ve just realized that maybe you need a little extra help getting there.

Are you in a marriage on the brink of falling apart, devoid of sex and intimacy? Maybe as a couple it has been hard trying to navigate your differing parenting styles or blended family. Maybe you are unhappy with the relationships between your children or are overwhelmed with the constant conflicts between the members of your family.

Whether you have shown up for yourself, your relationship, or your family, I am so glad you’re here.

As a resident therapist at Fuller Life, I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling from the Houston Graduate School of Theology with a Licensed Professional Counselor, with plans to continue education with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy.

I have worked with clients who have experienced the following:

  • Drug abuse and alcoholism
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Self-development/life choices and career uncertainty
  • Sexual abuse, assault, and rape
  • Binge eating/disordered eating, struggles with body image
  • Sexual identity exploration
  • Loneliness, singleness
  • College transition, test anxiety, campus living adjustment
  • Work stress due to high stress work environment
  • Death, loss, and grief
  • Assimilation, immigration, and adjustment to western culture.
  • Existential concerns, spirituality exploration

Couples’ issues:

  • Intimate partner violence
  • Separation
  • Same-sex relationships
  • In-law relationships
  • Infidelity
  • Partner role change/career change
  • Individuation within the marriage

Family Issues:

  • Parent-child strained relationships
  • Blended families
  • Child adjustment to divorce/ separation
  • Troubled behavior in children
  • African American struggles/issues

The relationship we have with ourselves is most important. When we nurture ourselves, we are then able to begin to have healthy connections with others in our professional, familial, and romantic relationships. I like to look at life stressors through a systemic lens; the belief that there can be multiple contributing factors to some of life’s hardest challenges. I believe all things are connected and can unknowingly affect us. From our past family history to our current environment, even down to the food we eat. It is not easy to admit you need help but if you have made it this far, you are already making strides in the right direction.

Thank you in advance for allowing me into your space to join you on your journey. I cannot promise you a better life, but if you are ready to do the work, you can have a changed life for the better. I can’t wait to meet with you!

Let’s get to work!
