Hi there! My name is Jayda Washington. My joy as a therapist comes from my passion for mental, physical and spiritual growth. My goal as a therapist will be to challenge you in a way that leads to lasting growth while you confront yourself in order to make room for change. I hope you’re up for the challenge.
I have an immense amount of respect for those who do seek help. It’s not easy to start the therapeutic process, but it is definitely a most courageous one. If you have made it this far, you are already making strides in the right direction.
About my approach
The relationships we have with ourselves first is most important. When we nurture ourselves, it is then and only then are we able to begin to have healthy relationships with others, including our professional, familial and romantic relationships.
I look at life stressors through a systemic lens. I believe there are multiple contributing factors to some of life’s hardest challenges. I see all things as connected which can unknowingly affect us from our past family history, our current environment, biological, social and psychological issues, and even down to the food we eat.
I look at the therapeutic process as a collaboration between client and therapist, that we are each giving and taking from the other creating an environment of change.
As a practicum student therapist, I am currently completing my master’s degree at the Houston Graduate School of Theology to become a Licensed Professional Counselor, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. I am supervised by Amy Fuller PhD, LMFT, LPC and see clients at rates specific to each person through Fuller Life.
About my clients
I have an interest in seeing individuals, families, children, as well as couples. I believe that what most clients seek in a therapist is someone who is truly invested in their wellbeing and seeks to help from a non-judgmental perspective.
My interest in working with families comes from the belief that families are the cornerstone of the community. I strive to help families come together and overcome some of their most difficult moments. Whether that be navigating new life as a blended family, dealing with caregiver stress, or trying to manage staying connected in an on-the-go society.
My interest in working with children comes from the reality that it can be difficult for parents to get into the minds of their children. They are faced with so many issues many of us did not ever have to experience. Issues related to drugs and alcohol, social-media and unnecessary trauma. I want to help parents navigate raising children in a fast-changing society.
I have a specific interest in working with couples to overcome their most challenging and seemingly trivial matters that may be keeping them from moving towards the relationship they desire. Whether that be disengagement with your partner, sexual and desire concerns, or Infidelity. The issues that flow from our most intimate relationship with our significant other can often times be the most emotionally taxing, and life-altering.
I thank you in advance for inviting me into your into your space, your life, your reality. I can’t promise my clients a better life, but if you’re ready to do the work it takes, I can guarantee a changed life for the better.
